Iphone5s Gaming
Apple has announced that the upcoming iPhone 5S will use a 64-bit processor. In the wake of this announcement, the gaming enthusiasts are eager to know whether the new device will be able to support games like Atari Jaguar or Nintendo 64, games which also run on a 64-bit processor. Well, to go by the opinion of the experts, iPhone5S gaming will not be able to play such sophisticated games yet.
As developer Jonathan Blow relates, the main thing about a 64 bit processor is that it is able to address a memory of 2 or 4 Gigs, depending on the OS. However, the Apple operating system for iDevices iOS cannot address that kind of memory yet. And as long as it does not, the gaming fans will have to wait to play the more advanced games on their iPhone devices.
However, there are many other benefits to using a 64 bit processor. For example, the operations will become smoother than ever. Software running and download, too, will improve a lot on the new device. Geremy Mustard, developer of iOS-exclusive gaming franchise Infinity Blade, for instance, relates that thanks to the new 64-bit chip, the games can be loaded almost instantly. The new processor makes the whole gamut of operations on the device faster and much more efficient. We may still have to wait a while to play the big games on iPhone-- that is, until the iOS does not develop enough to match the capacity of the 64 bit processor. The process will involve adding full virtual memory to the OS which means that the OS will be able to temporarily transform storage space into RAM. As it stands now, Apple iOS and not even the newly launched iOS 7 possesses this ability. 64-bit processor is a nice thing and it augurs much happy news for the future, but for the time being, iPhone5S gaming aficionados will have to wait to play Nintendo 64 on iPhone.
